How to read a Queens solution so it makes you better

Every walkthrough here is built by our solver, which replays the board from an empty grid one forced mark at a time and names the reason behind each one — a region trapped in a single row, two regions sharing two columns, a queen's cross clearing a line. Step through with the Next button or read the written list underneath. Nothing is skipped and nothing is guessed: every Queens board we publish has one solution, and the walkthrough is the proof.

Don't read the whole thing. Step forward until the solution's board stops matching yours — the first cross-off or queen it has that you don't. That one step is the deduction you missed, and it is nearly always one of the three moves on the Queens solving guide. Read that step, close the solution, and finish the board yourself. That is how the pattern sticks.

Solutions unlock the day after a board is published, because today's boards are timed and live. Stuck on today's? Yesterday's board at the same difficulty uses the same kinds of moves — open it as a warm-up, then go back. Coming from Star Battle? Every technique carries across; the Queens vs Star Battle guide shows how.
