Medium Slidesmith: today's medium sliding puzzle

Build it. Pick a spot and carry the tiles in, two or three moves a round. Made for players who clear the easy run near par and want patterns they have to put together.

Every tier plays on the same 5×5 board. The tier decides which patterns you are asked for and how far each one sits from the board on the par line.

What "medium" means here

The medium run is about building. It leans on lines, squares and corners, with the odd T, L, S or Z, and every round sits two or three moves from the board you are holding. You choose where to build, and the walls only ever shut the long way round. Each round stands alone: play every round in the fewest moves and you land on par.

The shapes are drawn fresh every day, weighted toward the square, corner and line of 3 on this tier. Each round on the par line needs at least as many moves as the round before it, so a run always ramps up.

Moving between tiers

If the medium run keeps finishing well over par, the easy run is the place to practise spotting a pattern that is nearly made. Once you are landing on par most days, the hard run asks for four-tile shapes and longer rounds.

Medium Slidesmith FAQ

What is in a medium Slidesmith run?

Five rounds on one board, with the shapes drawn at random each day (most often square, corner and line of 3). Par is usually 9 to 12 moves.

How is par worked out for a medium run?

The server plays every round to its own minimum from wherever the previous round could end, adds the five up, and publishes the total before the run goes live. It never changes.

Can I replay a medium run?

As often as you like. Only your best attempt is kept, and every past run stays playable in the archive.
